My new coil arrived yesterday - gave it a test run this morning

seems to work well. One of those spider web design coils 7X10 inches. First item found was a quarter. Found 4 nickels, 5 pennies, a butterly toe ring, a small 'sandal' charm, a ring of some sort but way to small to be worn, one of those little breathing circular screen type thingies that one finds on jungle boots to help the feet air out, several chunks of iron.

Found a huge playground that I had never noticed from the road before - hidden behind the school. By the limited number of my finds I'd say I wasn't the first one there so still impressed with the coil. One thing I am not impressed with is the new 'surface' for playgrounds that they are putting in. The new surface is made of recycled automobile tires. Maybe safer for the kids but not going to make it easier for us if they start doing away with all the tree bark surfaces in the playgrounds. Is this going to be the future of playgrounds? I sure hope not as it will leave fewer places to detect - and some of my best finds come from these school playgrounds. :nono:

here they have only done 1 school with 100 % recycled tires. They have parts of others though. It sure would kill things if they all did that !! Steve

I could find the place I lost my own ring the wife bought me :rage:

I don't remember all the sites I hit recently but do remember where I found the mercury dime and where I found the 1899 V nickel. Wish the ground would get saturated so I can go after those spots - plus one right downtown I have an been told I can hunt whenever I want (personl friend's house in sight of the State Capitol building.)

Well one last night to go to work early and do all the floors myself. Oh yeah the lady I wanted to trade with for the Tuesday so I can make it to the club meeting - she put in her 2 weeks notice yesterday - we're losing her too.

I was all excited when I found out I was allowed to hunt one of the large county parks near my house. They had a big kiddie playground area and I couldn't wait to hunt them all. Got there first thing on a Saturday morning only to find out there wasn't any mulch or sand :( only the rubber mats. Bummmer...

Do they use the mats or chopped up tires? If it's chopped up tires, it can't possibly smell as good as the mulch :)

Glad you got the coil, We have alot of the new play grounds around here. They use the dame thing. You will learn how to deal with them. I met to ask before. Did get the coil for a Garrett or another unit. I just forgot to ask. It will work great for you my friend.
