While I was down in Florida, I found a sand dollar in my scoop. I hung on to it, and when I got home, had a jeweler cast it.
I gave him about 16 dwt of 14K rings to use for the mold.
The result is a half dollar sized unique pendant I'm now wearing.
Made with gold I found from a cast of a sand dollar I found.
The face of the sand dollar has some slight buildup from whatever the ocean saw fit to put on it.
I could have bought a "perfect" dollar at the shell shop, but this one I found. Makes it special. Now those formerly useless bands have a new life, as a treasured momento of my retirement trip.
