Let me explain.. All of these finds came from my grandfathers yard,he passed away about three years ago and we all miss him dearly,he was the kind of guy that was there for his family no matter what and we came first always,he was there for D day,he seen the concentration camps first hand and was a forward ground observer in the army during WW2,he never had anything he didn't slave to get as my family was not well off back then,he also had that old school sense of humor and nobody got away from him without a good laugh and conversion... Or a lesson or two on how to do something correctly,he was always quick to teach you everything and anything he knew...I never seen him fail at anything he tried to do... Hell he built custom computers and fixed Hd tvs even in his 80's,I also caught him 15-20 feet up a cherry tree trimming it cause I was 10 mins late...at 84 yrs old LOL,we talked of metal detecting when I was younger and I really wish we would have,I know he would have had as much fun as I do,and would have had some killer spots, but I doubt he would have let me dig in his perfect lawn he put so much time into but grandma said go ahead and here is my finds, never thought finding a merc would make me water the lawn with tears like that...that makes yesterdays finds my best of all time....Mole

Congratulations on the merc but then it's more than just a silver dime, it's a find that you will never forget because of your memories of your grandfather. I have some similar finds from my family's old home place. HH.

Exaclty Eva!

Congratulations on the coins and the history of your Grandfather. Detecting puts us in touch with others in the past and in your case it really hits close to home for you. I've found a few wheats where my Grandfather spent most of his life, however his boyhood home, I've yet to find one coin. Great memories.

What is the big top/right plate??

Thanks for the pictures.

I think your greatest treasure will always be your memories of your grandpa. Sounds like an amazing man. Thanks for sharing your story.

Thanks so much for all the kind words and comments,we all have those special people in our lives, and miss them so much and when they leave us... it isn't easy but life must go on and all we can do is remember all the fun, good times, lessons, advice, morals, and standards we learned and try to pass some of that to our kids for their benifit as well... and pap did everything he set out to do in life and that is the last thing he told my grandma that day...ending with "I told you I would take care of you didn't I?" Grandma answered "yes you did.."... Thanks again everyone, I hope I didn't stir up too many tears!,but hopefully I got at least one of you guys(and girls) to smile with a good time or funny thing you might remember about that awsome person in you're life! Mole
