man I about hard a heart attack waiting all day! the tracking info said it was to be here today and it was signature required so I could not go anywhere today. I sat and waited..........and waited...............and waited.................and waited....lol

I called UPS at 5pm and asked them if it was still coming. They checked and said the driver was indeed out with it and according to their computer tracker he was 17 stops away!..............she said probably 2 more hours, this was not good news I wanted to play with my new toy!

well at 7:15pm UPS FINALLY pulls up, I assembled it as quick as possible, I did NOT read the instructions, I just went straight to the yard and started searching, I wanted to try it out before hunting in the morning. Basically I wanted to see if I could pinpoint successfully with the 6 x 10 DD coil I got for it. Well my first target said nickel 5 inches, I pinpointed and dug a ball of foil, no problem.

Next target was a penny 3 inches, pinpointed perfectly! Third and final target (getting dark now) said zinc penny and it was a zinc nail

all in all this detector pinpoints easy, straight out of the box, turn it on and go.............EASY to use, built nice, handles great.

Dang, I was getting excited for you while reading your post. You've got it going and you'll be posting your finds no matter what they are. I bet you'll be getting very many wonderful finds and let the machine pay for itself faster than you'll think. I can't wait to hear about your finds. I wish you the best of luck and keep that coil to the soil. HH to all, Nancy

went out today, basically to learn the machine a bit, found nothing exciting, a lil clad, an old matchbox, pulltabs etc....I was testing the machine to check what it says, if it said pulltab it was a pulltab.....lol

Great job, but even if it says pulltab dig it. It could be a small gold ring.:pulltab::thumbup:

today was just a learning day....lol

most signals were real quiet, I did not get any loud signals, hope I am setting everything right.
I am used to the ace250 screaming out a loud belltone for coins, this is going to take some getting used to

Great job there. What is the small round-flat object by the piece of pipe? That looks interesting. Could your headphones be the difference with the loudness? HH to all, Nancy

The MXT has a modulated target response. This means that a deeper target will be lower in volume. So when your looking for deep targets you'll have to listen for the low whispers. The Ace 250 doesn't care if you hit a quarter at 7 or 2 inches. It beeps at the same volume for each. So you'll just have to learn your new animal.

well things that were 4-5 inches deep were real quiet?? I wouldn't call that deep, then if I went across something an inch deep it screamed loud....lol

oh it is just a metal button, nothing too exciting

That's modulation alright. You need a good set on headphones to hear the whispers of deep targets.

OK, I thought it looked like a coin. Hey, You're on the way to finding those older coins. So cool. I can't wait for you to do so. It took me quite a few years to enjoy the "slow" hunting of older coins. Early years, Larry and I would go "cladding" and had a blast! Some days we would get over $50.00 and my little piggies were mighty tired and sore. Goes to show that no matter what type of detecting you do, it's all enjoyable. HH to all, Nancy

well the thing that is hard for me to do is NOT find old stuff, I am used to going out every weekend and finding old coins at every house we went too.

The ace250 is a great litte machine, I have found a ton of old coins with it, so when I switched to a machine that cost 3x as much I am hoping I can figure it out soon. It ought to be a lot better/deeper machine............right?

You've got that RIGHT! It will go much deeper and be more accurate than your other machine. We bought my mom (soon to be 78 yrs. young) the ACE 250 and she loves it. But it's not as high tech as the MXT. You'll have that MXT concord very soon. It's a turn on go machine with very little headaches. You're going to love it more and more each time you use it. HH and keep us posted! Nancy

I just bought an MXT back in March, being this is my first real detector I am happy with it so far. Went out yesterday and found a couple of 1980's quarters a good 7 inches deep. Amazing how deep stuff sinks in a relative short time. I found that I get this best depth after a good soaking rain. Early spring, right after the snow melt, when the ground was saturated, was the best. Found some stuff a good 9-10 inches (dig the iffy signals!). I most use the relic mode, trigger forward, desc at 0, gain as high as the ground mineralization will allow.

Give the MXT some time to get used to. The targets recovered is not directly linked to the price of the machine. Good targets recovered is directly linked to the operator knowing their machine.

That is true to some extent, but I have had an ace250 a year and an MXT 2 weeks. I have had my MXT out 3-4 times and have found as much finds and finds more valuable in that 3 times than I have with my Ace in a year.

I agree the ace is good for the money however there is no comparison to the MXT. On the ace you pay for the target ID I think if you did not have ID it would not be much different than the others.

My brother in law Tim dude often beats me with ace 250 he digs everything. The ace 250 is a hot machine first one i recommend to beginners and everyone else good back up machine and does find a lot of stuff hard to beat at the price also have all 3 coils for it love the bell tone. The mxt i have had since they came out have 3 coils for that i really like my 6 inch ex coil.Hunt in relic mode listen for hi tone and now started hunting in prospect mode this is harder to do but give some good result.Take your time it will come to you.Good machine. Also have whites idx nickel killer but i want to send in to bill to hop it up and add some new feature to it good luck i see your post on Garrett forum.
