Last summer I was detecting in 15" shallow water in a local river hoping to find any Rev war relics. The troops were camped just 3 miles away. Got a fairly big signal, reached into the water and picked up a home made Christian cross someone made from two thin pieces of wood, was about 12" long and had pennies (zinc) taped all over it. Right away I figured someone made it as a good luck piece to bring wealth. I put it back, hope it works. Also found a dropped musket ball and a machete that was paper thin from rust.
