The Bean field is still being kind to me !
My computer was down for a while, so this is for the month of November.
So far-5 Large Cent (1825, 1827, 1844 and 2 almost slick).
1- 1862 3 cent, 1- 1780 Reale, 1- 1901 V nickel, 1- 1901 Indian Head, 1- busted silver ring and a variety of buttons and buckles (Harness).
I don

and I like the close-ups of the coins and buttons too. Nice to see all the detail. One question, it seems you have a company name? on the back of one of the buttons. What's it say? Also top photo, silver looking relic bottom left, what is it? Appears to be a buckle, or clip down type buckle. It also looks like the decorative end tip of something. Very interesting indeed!
Golden:detecting:

This is what I can make out on the button-There is a eagle(bird). The letters that I can make out looks like- Superfine Stron.
I am going to get son(younger eyes) to take a look at it.
The relic in the lower left is broken silver ring.
I would like to find out if the markings mean anything.
Thanks--Boofer

I found one like it today in the surf of VA Beach. It is all green and nasty. ? a vinegar soak, then soak in cooking oil ??? 1st one I have to clean.

Wow you had a great day for sure. I just love the large coppers. The buttons are sweet. The eagle button is nice, the others may be just period flower buttons. Great finds.

My research shows it to be Marine Button.
I have not been able to put a date on it.
Based on what I have seen, it is probably
somewhere in the mid 18 hundreds ????.
I was hoping some body could come up with a better date.

From the Alberts Button book, US Marine buttons from pg 110.
Possible backmarks of similar pictured buttons are:
".Scovills & Co. /Superfine"
"Scovill Mg Co/Superfine."
First order for Marine buttons for officers is dated in 1821. No specific dates are listed for the buttons shown in the book.
Good finds.
