My local parks are being hunted (But not with Compadres)

My biggest clue is the metal fence ties around the different courts. They bang even under pulltab setting. Trick me every time. On the good side I'm cleaning out the different fence lines. So with the wires alum & tabs out of the way it starting to pay off. Along with Clad this machine has come up with a silver cross & a gold earing. (My wife wants to know where the other one is?)

I hunt a lot of chainlink fencelines too.

.those wires sound pretty much like a silver chain or even a big gold one, also, usually lots of those brass grommets from banners that were hung on the fence...its funny, a guy can get that wire signal and look up on the pole to see where the missing wire came from...I look for where people climb the fences regularly...could be in the corners, or sometimes right in the middle, the top edge wires will be distorted, cross bar bent sometimes, sometimes the bottoms of the fences are distorted where a snow plow guy got a little over zealous too...usually lots of good hunting close to the wire since its a good place to toss gear, sit, climb etc...and like you said, most detectorists avoid getting close to the wire, if a person runs a low enough sens, they are easily huntable...those are good signals to recognize and remember and when a fellow gets that "fencewire" tone where it dont belong, like far from a fence, they are definitely something to investigate....on another fence line note...a fellow should keep an eye out for paper dollars that get blown into and trapped by them.....if a person is hopping a fence and wearing a chain, or ring, theres a good chance it will get hung up and tossed off Is what I figure..good post Dancer!:clapping:

Glad you're enjoying the Compadre. Another thing is Revier's post about the signals close to the fences-about as good as some 4" coils. At the right sweep speed, I've found items almost against the fence posts.

Good report

Good report.. My wife also wants to know where the other ear ring is. She don't understand that you only loose just one at a time... KEN

I was hunting along a chainlink fenceline when I found a pretty hard solid hit.

I dug it up and it was half a foot of one of the post tops. Whoever built the fence was sawing the tops off.. just stuck it in the dirt.

Gave me a laugh.
