My last two rings of our season

I got my first class ring in 29 years of hunting last Sunday in a lake just before one of our club's last planted water hunts of the year. I am hoping that when I return it I will be able to hunt her yard and maybe even their relative's property. She attends school in one of my favorite towns to hunt in because it is one of the oldest in the state. Wednesday I found this 10k ladies ring at the third spot I hit on two different lakes. It was my last time in the water this season. We are starting to cool down here with cold fronts coming in and hardly anyone is swimming anymore. I took all of the clad I found in the lakes this summer to my bank, stuck them in the machine, turned them in for bills ($57.42), and put it in my gas tank. That tradition marks the end of the season for me. I had a pretty good one though. I did find 9 gold rings, 8 silver, lots of stainless and Titanium rings. I will miss the fun of seeing that gold in my scoop!

VERY nice finds! My hunting pace seems to pick up through the fall and winter. I find myself much more willing to go out and hunt when it's not so darn hot and the ground so bone dry. I also have spots in the woods that only open up for me in the winter due to ground plants and such, so I'm just getting started! Having worked outside for most of my life I find that I'd rather work outside in the winter on most days than in the heat of the summer. Really there is only about 3 or 4 weeks of such bad weather and wind in the winter that I won't crawl out into it during that span. Last winter the snow cover stopped me from being able to hunt for almost two months. By the time I got out I was just giddy to even dig junk signals all day long.

Thanks. My water season just ended but like you I hunt even more in the winter. I have also worked outside. I just retired a year and a half ago from surveying for the state of Oklahoma for 28 years. Now I just sell detectors and hunt. My passion is relic hunting. The older the better. The vegetation is still up here and my fields still have crops in them. This is just a bad time in between seasons. I need to find some spots to hold me over. We get to hunt just about all winter long here. We may have a few ice or snow storms but they usually melt off after a few days. Sometimes the ground freezes here in the morning but usually thaws by noon. I am glad you are getting to hunt now. I am looking forward to seeing your finds and I enjoy reading your posts..

Those are cracking rings..........

Winter for me means........ hunting different parts of the beach and using different styles, few recent drops so its hunting for older stuff. Of course as I night hunt it also means likely below freezing temperatures............ welcome to :ukflag:England
