My Kruzer has stopped working

About a month ago my friend and I were hunting a park we had hit many times. i walked over an area that I know didnt have an overload target in it (friend also checked it w/his Anfibio). My machine gave that high-pitched squelch sound for overload/trash targets and then the alarm went off. After that, the machine was completely unstable, with every target giving that overload squelch. after a minute or so, the machine wouldnt recognize any targets (penny, quarter, pulltab etc).

I turned the machine on and off a couple of times, and eventually it became stable. Since then my machine would only operate normally half the time. Two days ago it stopped completely. I reset to Factory default this morning, took it out, turned it on, it worked for a sec or two, but when i laid it on the ground, it squelched once, then every target was an overload, then it went silent and couldn't ID a quarter or any other target.

I've had it a year, and suppose I'll call the Georgia service center tomorrow, since it should still be under warranty.

Anyone encountered this issue?

Thanks

When mine flooded it gave the overload sound that would't stop. I sent just the control box to the service center and they had me up and running in about a week. Nokta/Makro will take care of you.

Hoping it'll work out with Warranry for you.

There's s song called "Galway Girl", do you know it?

Steve Earls sang the original back a few years ago!

I know it well, like him I'm Texan, lived in Galway for a couple years, awesome.

I saw Steve Earl up here in New York last November. He put on a great show.
My Makro Racer 2 would make that overload sound a bunch, then i found out that if i wiggled the connector where it meets the control box I could get it to stop. I later cut the coil wires back and repaired it on my own after it was out of warranty .I don't suggest you do that, but if you have a different coil to slap on there I'd try that first.

i'm going to send the head unit n coil to Georgia. Thanks all!

Thanks for your advice on how to take off the head unit, worked perfectly. Mailing it out tomorrow

well i sent out my Kruzer to the service center a couple of weeks ago. after a week I called Van to see what he found. Surprisingly, he told me that someone else had called in about the exact same problem/issue, but that he wasnt able to duplicate the problem on either machine. havent heard back with any news yet, but I did leave a message asking about what the next steps are, hopefully i'll hear back from him. my friend is letting me use his anfibio, but i miss having a machine

tried calling again today, to check status, i left another message, hopefully he'll contact me back this time..... weather is finally cooling down, im ready to hunt

just got home from bad day at work, to find my returned Kruzer. Hoping it was fixed, I connected everything, went outside to a test bed Ive used dozens of times. I turned on the machine, and it immediately went chatty. One sweep over a 3inch quarter recorded two or three passes correctly, then began to jump around then to overload high pitched squelch, till it wouldnt recognize anything.. I placed a quarter on the ground and the machine could not see it. It then stopped working at all, no matter if the target was in the ground or waved by hand

Not sure what to do next, I ordered one of the first machines to come to the US, perhaps they had some glitches. Theres no money to buy a new machine, maybe I need to send my still under warranty Kruzer to Turkey, but that means spending more money for postage.

I guess Im back to the old Bounty Hunter quick draw, its been working for 20 years. Maybe I can sell the Makro headphones to someone, who knows, I think Im going to have a beer now.

I'm going to have my friends w/Makros try connecting the unit n coil. They tried before and got the same results as me.

Van mentioned someone else had the same problem, I wonder what happened with their detector.

Try a different coil like you said, also try a different place. Maybe there's some EMI where you are. Is your phone in your pocket? If so turn it of or put it somewhere else. Try a different frequency, or try to shift the frequency, try moving the wire near where it connects the control box to see if there's something wrong there. If the repair center couldn't find an issue chances are its something else, or an environmental anomaly. Don't give up!

thanks for suggestions, Ive tried all those. but the fact is the machine worked fine for a year, then just out of the blue, started overload squelching. I water hunted with it a couple of times too maybe issue slowly developed. Parks ive hunted with my kruzer dozens of times without issue produce the same overload signal, then stops working all together. I hunted my yard tons of times before with no issues before the machine broke, now nothing.

Van said someone else had the same problem, never heard what was wrong with theirs.

I'm going to contact makro Turkey about sending it there, hopefully they have had similar issues in Europe/Asia and are familiar with the problem. If not I'll try and recoup my losses by seeing if someone wants to buy the headphones and upper n lower shafts (might make back the postage to Turkey) and Marko can just keep the faulty head unit/coil.

I've hunted over 30 years, now this detector issue and dealing with 90 year old parents with Alzheimer's, is doing me in. MDing was my only stress relief outlet

Dear Galway, what did Van say at the service center? Did he check the unit?

I contacted Nokta, who after a while wrote me back today to say i should contact the service center. I've already did that and it didnt work. It looks like this has gone full circle and I'm SOL

After putting my friends anfibio/kruzer coils on my machine and my coil on theirs, it seems the issue is my coil. I'm not paying more to send the whole thing back to Georgia, only to chance getting it returned again not working.

If I cant find a used coil for cheap soon, I'll put the head unit, upper and lower rods and headphones for sale on this site , maybe one of y'all would like a Multi Kruzer backup that doesnt come with a coil.

Based on my previous experience with Nokta and a return, I thought this process was going to be a breeze. Almost two months later and I'm back to square one and $16 bucks in the hole.

Frustrated, need to stop typing

Really don't understand why the service center returned it to you not repaired.

Nokta should step in and deal with their service center.

I believe that would be North Georgia Relics & Metal Detectors. Should have fixed yours or sent back to Turkey

Disappointed for you!

I have been in correspondence with this customer through PMs. It will be resolved, one way or another.
