My innovative sand scoop for about $10.00

I put together a very functional sand scoop for around $10.00. I . I used a stainless steel kitchen container from Walmart for $ 6.78, 2 galvanized framing straps for $1.00 from Lowes, 1 small shelf support for $1.50 and a few screws nuts and bolts and an old broom stick handle, plus a small piece of screen. It works great in dry sand and the handle makes it easy to sift and retrieve your targets. Does not work real good in wet sand but works great in shallow water. The whole thing weighs about a pound and very easy to work. I'm going to make a few modifications to improve on a few things. Overall it performed pretty good on the beach. The wife was not happy when I told her I wanted to spend $169.00 on a long handle sand scoop so I had to use my imagination and make one for myself.

P.S. This was the scoop I used on my last visit to the beach with the finds on my most recent post right at $6.00 in change and the small jewelry skull.

Not bad. It sure the hell beats what I was using. A coffee can with holes in it.

That's a very interesting design. Saves a lot of bending over in the sand too. There is soooooo much talent on thid forum. :bouncy:
