My idea of a Great detector

Would be an upgraded Tesoro Vaquero. One with 3 tones for different conductivity targets, a silent search, motion, discriminate mode, with 4-5 levels of Iron discrimination. A Threshold based, no motion, true All Metal mode. With a screen with just a 2 digit numerical target ID and a bar graph Depth indicator. They could put the toggle switch for the freq. shift, and the threshold knob on the back side with the coil connection to make room for the ID screen. Or possibly just a Teknetics Omega that operates at a higher freg. of say 15-17 Khz. What ya thinik? What would be your choice?

I like you thoughts on the Vaquero. I would be happy with just 3 tones on the V. The Omega didn't impress me at all....way too jumpy in trash and EMI was a problem in alot of sites.

I like everything about your description, except the ID screen. The ID detectors I've used just don't ID accurately, deep enough for it to be of real use when relic hunting. If you're coinshooting its nice to have, but for all other things, there are just too many variables to be trusting an ID screen. I like a machine that has an audible threshold and variable pitch, so you can tell by ear you're onto a deep target. These digital machines just don't have the nuances that the non-digital ones, like the Tesoros, have.
