My Hunts from the past couple days

I was able to get out for an early evening into night hunt last night and was fortunate enough to have about 4 hours today. My most productive areas were a couple of sports fields around the outside of the chain link fences that surround the field, around the bleachers and the grass along where people park to attend the games. All told, I found over 15.00 (all clad though), a small sports medal and lots of tabs and can slaw. I started to see a trend with the VDI's on the junk, but didn't want to miss gold so I pretty much dug everything that wasn't notched out. Sure was a lot of digging. Kind of disappointed that the silver and jewelry eluded me, but I know it pays to be persistent. :usaf:

I know how you feel, dig dig dig & nothing good. In my area the pop tops are consistant so I don't dig them but that still leaves a lot of junk to dig before u find the gold.

Great amount of clad for the time. I use to love to do bleachers. No telling what you can find there. Now I'm moving slower and going for the deep finds. I miss the cladding. HH and thanks for posting, Nancy

$15 dollars is a great haul. That would probably pay for my batteries for the entire year. If you find a soccer field / complex, I've always concentrated along the sidelines, directly in front of the goals and around the player bench areas. VERY productive with several silver ring and gold chain finds. If you keep diggin those low VDIs, you'll get yourself a big surprise before long. Persistence pays off.

bula, you aren't kidding about the junk to treasure ratio!

Nancy, the only problem I have with bleachers is that they are metal with metal footings underground. I've tried switching to relic mode and also tried turing the discrim down, but I still get way to much feedback to get directly under the bleachers (which is probably where people drop most of the stuff). Any tips? I'm going to try to concentrate on the deeper stuff once I get the feel for my machine and feel confident with it (I'm getting there). I've used this forum, other net sites, MXT Edge, the owners manual and practice to try to learn the most I can to maximize effectiveness and fun.

CCH, I'm heading out in a few minutes...temp is 59 or so with drizzle, but will be getting colder tomorrow...trying to get the most while I can. I'll be on a soccer field so I will hit the areas you recommend. I sure would love to find a ring of any type! I got excited on the same field a couple of days ago when I dug and saw gold...ended up being a presidential dollar...but a good find none the less. HH :usaf:

You didn't say what size coil you are using in the bleachers area so I'll suggest using a small coil, I don't know the sizes of the whites coils but I use a 5.75 concentric on my Cibola and can detect right next to the legs of swing sets in school yards and thats with the sens set at 10. I even used it around a set of metal bleachers at one of the local parks with no problem other that I didn't find anything. HH Jimmie

usafaviator, I would use my BigFoot coil, but those are rare to find now. My suggestion would be using a small coil for under the bleachers. The smaller the better and then in coin/jewelery mode turn your "gain" to 5-6, your "duel control" to 2-3 and go for it. With a smaller coil, you'll be able to get closer and even though it will ring out by the bleacher bars, you'll still hear if you hit a target by the . double beep with you swing over it. Hope this helps and good luck in your hunting. We love to hear how things are going. HH, Nancy

I use the 5.3 Eclipse for anywhere there is a lot of trash, so it's a pretty small coil. I'll try your recommended settings. On a side note, I went back out today until the wind started making it cold and hit a couple of ball/soccer fields. Not much luck other than about another 3 bucks in clad (seems everybody here drops quarters and dimes), a matchbox car and a golf ball (was buried next to a 1982 penny). The clad is buildings, but sure would like to find some gold and silver.

Still a good amount and your day will come when that BLING appears! Good luck at the bleachers. I've got the same coil and it would be a good one also. HH, Nancy
