Well, it appears that my macro bug photo career is on hold for the moment, at least here at the house. Earlier today, I decided to try and get a wasp macro bug photo. There is a nest of them near the point of the roof...should have been a done deal. The telephoto lens would not enlarge them very much, so I decided to throw a stick at the nest to dislodge some of them, hoping that they would land somewhere near me where I could use the macro mode on the camera. It did not quite work as planned...rather than landing in the grass near me, they came after me! I ran for the house with several of them right behind me, trying to sting me. I fell over "Sadie" as I came through the back door, got back on my feet and slammed the door shut, but not before a wasp made it through the door. Debbie started yelling at me to kill the wasp...and "Sadie" just added to the confusion. I chased the wasp around the kitchen and then into the living room where I finally killed it with the fly swatter.
Debbie said that we needed to talk...she was tired of bugs being in the house, tired of mason jars being kept in the ice box and suggested that it might be best if I would forget about macro bug photography and try my hand at something different...macro flower photography.
There is a single lady, a school teacher, that lives three houses up from us that has a nice flower garden, so I decided to ask her if I could take some pictures of some of her flowers. She said it was OK with her, but I had to listen for thirty minutes of her telling me all about her flowers...kinda boring, but I guess that is the price to pay when taking photos of flowers that belong to someone else.
Here are several of the photos that I took. For some reason, I had problems trying to get the flowers in focus and only took five decent photos out of a total of about two dozen. They are not the best macro flower photos, but it is a good start. Please have a great day! Kelley (Texas)
