....my heart stops and I see an Egyptian Pharaoh in gold!

So I'm down on the beach with the Vaquero this morning and get a nice rounded strong signal thats quite deep, I dig and at around 8 inches........my heart stops and I see an Egyptian Pharaoh in gold!

Never had a coin this shiny gold straight out of the sand before and it looks by the bumps, dints and marks its been there a while, its not gold, its an Egyptian 50 Piastres, never seen one before but how much like gold does this coin look!

I guess your right it sure looks gold, seems the Egyptian 50 Piastres was gold from 1939- 1884 guess it depends on the year. I would have been feeling great to pull that from the hole too still a great looking find either way.

Between 1834 and 1836, copper 1 and 5 para , silver 10 and 20 para, 1, 5, 10 and 20 piastre, gold 5, 10 and 20 piastre and 1 pound coins were introduced, with gold 50 piastre coins following in 1839

it does seem to be made of better quality metals than a lot of the coins minted recently, certainly better than euros which after just a few weeks in damp sand are green and need an aggressive clean to get them back to spendable.
