My ground is frozen 6 inches deep. I haven't been able to dig for a month. I got excited when I found a Zinc in the washing machine! I have air teste

Ut oh that must be catching. I've been doing that too! Even tracked the rebar in the concrete of the floor. My knee had better hurry up and get well!!

I have been thinking of putting pennies in my wife's planters just so I can feel some dirt and maybe even get some under my fingernails :(

I know how it is. So i try to do research and find new spots. Get on Nasa worldwind or google maps and try to fund new spots to try. Look at some old plat maps online. I just read a historical archive online and found a few new spots on hilltops where there were gatherings from 1880-1920. You can also go scout out areas. In the winter its easier to see old foundations in the woods or overgrown areas. The brush and growth is gone so you can see foundations, walls and whatnot. The problem is i want to go try the spot right now but its 10 degrees and we have a foot of snow.

You need to build a small indoor sand box, then bury some coins and detect away. :) Just hope you don't have a cat.

I have looked at Google Earth so many times my eyes look like the planet. I have a half a dozen places with permission to hunt. I will try the NASA and plat map thing though - thanks.

I know you haven't seen the soil for a long time now. I guess snow in your gloves isn't the same as dirt under the nails. I really enjoy your posts.

When I make the move north, I am going to take a bucket of beach sand with me. I will put a sun lamp on it and have my wife hide some coins in it for me to MD.

Hello, my name is Texdon and I am new to this Forum; I have been MD'ting
for approx. 20 years and am STILL MD'ting with my Garrett GTI2500 mach.
every chance I get. This Forum looks like a very interesting one and am
hoping to hear about some new trcks and tips on digging targets from
some of you fellow Treasure Hunters. I heard of one new trick the other
day, and I think they called it coim flipping. Keep in mind I have
NOT tried this trick yet, but the story goes; that you pinpoint the
coin or in my case a pull tab, and push a Screw Driver down along side
of it and flip it up out of the ground. Some of the boys that did try it
said that it does work, but the trick is getting the bit of the Screw
Driver at the side of the coin and not on top of it.If one of you decide
to try this, would like to hear how it works for you. It's still bad
weather here and I wont be able to get out for awhile. Well this is a
looong post for my first one, I will keep the rest of them a little
shorter. LOL

I'm scared to flip or pop any coin out as I might scratch a silver one. On some soil I will cut a slit and look inside. Otherwise I use the trap door method.

Welcome to the best forum on the net! This one is really active!

THe trick is to push the screw driver down below the coin. Been flipping coins for 44 years without damaging them.
