My goldfield relic

Aussie MXT

New member
On a recent trip to Hill End in Australia, I met up with a mate and we went for a day detecting old mullock heaps. The place has detector holes all over it with many patches of trash. The adjustable SAT settings mean I can punch down right beside the trash and locate other targes that would have been missed with a PI detector. After several hours with only junk targets I remembered a patch of junk I located last time I was here. I had dug up a button from 12 inches deep. I immediately moved location because I thought any gold would have been too deep for me if a button was that deep.

I decided to head back to this patch and dig all the targets I ignored last time. I'm glad I did because the first target I got was 13 inches deep. It turned out to be an early 1900's 'Cricket" belt buckle.
They are not a common find and each buckle design was usually for a particular big game, such as they had when an English team was touring the country. They were all the rage in Australia back in the late 1800's and early 1900's.

Hope you enjoy.... Dicko..
