My gold finds this winter....

Water wizard

New member
Here is a picture of my gold finds from 3 weeks hunting, average 5 hours a day. I was wading in the sea at tourist beaches. I use an Excalibur 1000 and a full metal jacket sand scoop bought from the USA. I found about

Hey WW...I saw a youtube vid of a guy using a snorkle, he wore a weight belt, fins too I think, and hunting in water just a little over his head, he'd get a signal, drop down to the bottom and fan with his hand for the item...I think with your background, experience, respect for the water, etc. it would be something you could easily do. As long as that weight belt was quick release in case of trouble, as all of them sold for that purpose generally are..it gave him access to the deeper portions that a fellow cant wade. it would probably be a good idea to pull a float behind on a line, just so a fellow could take a breather every once in a while.
Nice finds there!:clapping:

Thanks mud, how did the guy search for targets. did he swim or walk? I didn't think I would be able to detect for a target without doing a breath hold dive. If you have to be holding you breath to search that's the problem. If you do to many back to back hold breath holds its very dangerous. I can Hold it to recover the target, and always dive straight back if I don't get it first time, but the problem is detecting without breath holding. The detector needs to be on the bottom, and I can't reach the bottom without breath holding. If I wear my snorkel and walk I'm 2 or 3 foot short of the top of the water. I will try and find that you clip you mentioned, it must be possible......

...sorry not learnt how to embed vids yet

WOW he misses a lot of area. I can crawl on the bottom with my gear. It works for him. I didn't see a dive flag either. Its a law in Florida for divers and snorkelers. Its not just a law, its really for your safety. I don't want to be propeller bait.

Thanks wader mike, I just tried the link but it said can't be operated in this format. Doh! I tried just going in to you tube but that video doesn't come up....... I'm in th uk, cold it be that? Scuba detector, have you got any techniques? I guess you always have your scuba kit with you, so you have no worries. It must be possible......can you snorkel and search for targets in 3meters of water...

My website isn't quite finished yet. I have not shown it to many. But I do have a vanilla tips page. scubadetector.com

If you click on the link wadermike put up it should open. if not copy and paste it in your search bar, that should work or right click on it and open in new window.

No joy, your site worked, ( good advice there), but I couldn't get the link, it came up with the same message:-, can't run in this format. Is it possible to successfully detect in 8/9 feet of water?, with out suba or hookah? I am a great breath holder, but it didn't seem safe when I tried it before. Certainly not to search. I know i can recover items breath holding though. It's only because I've been flying to the Balearic lands and I can't take or hire scuba kit there. I know where the gold is, I just can't get it without my full kit....

Ok just currious, how about a small pony bottle for when your on the bottom? Just a thought

Fell asleep lol..
I'm in the UK too so it shouldnt be that? if you open up youtube and search for "snorkel detecting" it should be the first one (after the ad), and its called "Metal Detecting Miami Florida - Snorkling for Gold.mp4" by Joe Beechnut :please:

Thats the one Wader Mike! :clapping: I think I've watched all of Old Beechnuts videos back when I was new and even before I found this forum...yes, now I see the guy wasn't wearing fins...

Yes wader, It's because I was searching on my iPad, not a pc! My girl friend found it on the pc straightaway! Thanks guys. The water is shallower on the clip than my spot.... I've got a pony bottle so that is a good idea scubadetector,. I might give it another try, no fins more weight. Thanks again guys. Hope I can get away for 1 more week in march. Now I can post pics I'll put up any finds...... This site is awesome :)
