For the past two weeks I have been too occupied with other things to be able to do much detecting. I was able last week to hit a tot lot in Western North Carolina for about an hour last week. Then last Friday morning I had to have some surgery done that was supposed to take about 30 minutes and lasted nearly two hours. That kept me in the Hospital until Saturday afternoon.
Then I had to sober up from the nearly two hours of anesthesia. It takes me a few days to get rid of the aftereffects.
This morning I was in severe metal detecting withdrawal. So after mailing my Garrett Pro Pointer back for repairs I decided that I had to brave the heat and humidity for a little coil swinging.
I went to a local park and as I expected I was not finding much. A little clad and a lot of aluminum trash. Got a real low toned target that gave me a steady 116 reading on the meter. I had not heard that low of a tone with a steady reading. While thinking "Maybe I will be lucky. NAH !!! its just another piece of junk." I popped the target out of the dirt and a shiny yellow ring appeared. It even had a ring guard installed so it could be worn by a smaller finger.
When I took the ring guard out of the ring I could read 10K. I bought my first detector (Sovereign GT) one year ago this month and today was the first time that I have found anything made of gold.
The ring is small but it certainly is a welcome addition to my "Treasure Box". It made one Old Man Happy.
