My First Wheatie!!! :wiggle:

Found this in the lot next to my house. The house has been gone for 20 years and was an early 1900's home. Only found one other penny as the property is difficult to hunt mostly overgrown.

Back - Still quite dirty even after electrolysis process.

Hopefully more to come.

We all had to start somewhere. There will probably be a day in the near future, where finding a Wheat Penny is no big deal. You certainly have gotten off to a good start. Congratulations on the first of many.

I am not big on electrolysis on copper coins. Try heating up a few inches of Hydrogen Peroxide in a microwave safe dish next time. Heat it long enough for it to bubble like a Hot Tub. Place the coin in the solution and leave it until it stops fizzing. Take a wet Qtip and CAREFULLY wipe away any remaining dirt. Repeat the entire process with a fresh solution, if necessary. Rinse off the coin. You should have better results.

[/quote]2 years and 200 wheat's later I'm always glad to find them. They are like a portal to better (older) coins in the area you found them. And a few of those wheat's are worth some money.
