My First Two hours out with my New Xterra 70 and Stock coil relic hunting a pounded site

I wanted to post my first finds and my impression of the X70. When I say these finds came from a pounded site I am talking about one that has been pounded since before 1973 but I have probably hunted there 100 times and there has been literally 100's of people detect here since it is one of the few places not posted. I have hunted in here with my explorer before and come up empty handed since it has been pounded by Nautilus, Fisher, White's Minelab and every other machine known to man. That is why I am so impressed with this machine. I never even read the manuel just scanned it and the X70 is very easy to use. I only hunted 2 hours and the last hour was dark and I couldn't even see the meter. My first good target was in the open area of a confederate gun implacement right one top of a trench that is no way me and every one else could have missed scanning this area. It was the bullet to the far right of the photo, it is a shot spencer bullet and it was between 9 and 10" measured. That was the first find to impress me. Then I made my way back in front of the trench right out in the open area and got another deep signal. It was dark with only moonlight so I couldn't even see what kind of bullet it was. Right in about a 3 or 4' area I got three dropped bullets and all the percussion caps. Needless to say I was overwhelmed since I have not dug any dropped enfields or two ringers here especially more than one in the same area in probably over 5 years. They must have been really deep for the Nautilus and explorer guys to have missed them. I made my way closer to the car and hit one more rifle pit and bingo another dropped bullet. So all and all I got 3 dropped enfields, one 2 ringer Gardner and a shot spencer bullet in two hours along with all the percussion caps. It may not seem like much in volume but from this place it is a miracle, trust me. I was hunting in prospecting mode with sens. wide open, stock medium freq concentric coil. When I got a signal I switched to all metal and once I got in the hole a little deeper I checked it with disc. pattern one. I must say after using my heavy explorer for years this thing was a joy to hunt with. Look forward to many more digs and posts, thanks Chuck at Indian Nation detectors for setting me up and all the guys that posted to wish me well with the new machine.

That's some great history you've dug up! Great results and those old lead bullets are in great condition. You seem to have a bit of an advantage with your new machine over the older models used there. Cheers! Marco

nice pieces of American history. (Not to mention score some very nice finds.) Thanks for letting us know how you did, and the settings you used to work the site. Good job! HH Randy

You kicked some butt at that site, and in the dark, no less. I have to try Prospecting mode now, I'm a believer. Great hunt for your first time out. Ron
