My First silver! Cibola nailed it!

Went out in my front yard last night for a quick scan with my new Cibola. I went over an area that has been scanned dozens of times with all of my other machines. The Cibola gave me a solid signal on this even with the disc maxed out.
About 7 inches down out popped this 1916 Barber dime. My very first silver coin ever!!
Yeah, I nicked her cheek with the digger. I really had no idea that anything that old could be on my property. Looks like I beeter go over the whole yard again with the Cibola!

Great find. I have not found my first Indian head or Barber yet, but I did find a corroded V nickel.

We call those marks, birth marks, you must have been exited to find that, its a beauty, one thing I am learning is different detectors make a difference.

7" with maxed out disc is awesome .Your ground must be just right for the preset ground balance . Which coil were you using ? I would hit your yard in all metal , who knows what may be lurking down a bit more .Don't be too quick plead guilty on that scratched cheek , that looks like it was done before . Usually a new scratch is way brighter than the surrounding metal .:clapping::thumbup:

Thanks everyone.

Dirt Doctor, I'm using the 9x8 concentic coil, and live in southeastern Michigan so the soil is quite good.
Yes, I plan on going over the whole property.... 5.75 acres ... With the Cibola supertuned and disc opened up.

I agree about thar scratch. I dont think you done that. Just to make sure you dont make any marks, be very careful on your pinpointing. Cut your plug a little bigger. Good find and good luck... KEN,, IND..

I have to agree that mark looks worn, like the rest of the dime, I know the barber i nailed it was bright & shiny and sharp

That's a super find! You won't lose much depth on silver coins if you set the discrimination to just barely knock out beaver tail pull tabs.

Congratulations on your first silver:cheers:. My first was also a Barber Dime.

You've really made me nervous. I've been postponing getting a Cibola since I have a Compadre, Silver umax, and a Royal Sabre. lt seems like in mild soil it could be a deep seeker. Have you tried comparing signals in pinpoint and disc. to see how they react as to trash vs. goodies? Thanks.

Think that Cibola is going to be my next Tesoro,Congrats on the Barber.

WTG KennyD Theres nothing like your first silver.Mine was a 1964 quarter found at my moms house.she died about 5 years ago and I;m thinking of having it put in a necklace of some kind.Hope you find many more silver.HH:clapping:

Nice silver. I also live in SE MI and Tesoro's love our soil

Nice find KennyD. It just goes to show you that no area is ever "hunted out". It may take a little more effort to find stuff, but never hunted out. I had the same situation as you where I had previously hunted my yard with 2 other brands of detectors. First time out with the Compadre I found an 1864 IH in spots I had been over many times before with my other machines. I learned a valuable lesson that day!
