Hi fellow detectorist:

Last weekend I was detecting in a frontier town on the Santa Fe Trail southwest of Topeka, KS. I was fortunate enough to find the 1855 O seated half about 5 inches down next to a brick side walk strip at a home built in 1863. I also found this cool old piece of possible jewelry along the same sidewalk strip. Acid tested positive for silver but it may be pewter. Does anyone have any clue what it may be? Thanks for looking and happy hunting!

What a terrific find!!!! That liberty seat half dollar is on a lot of people's bucket list, including mine. That coin has been waiting on you for over 150 years to dig her up, nice recovery.

Sweet find still hunting for a seated half got my first barber an o mint also this year!

Gratz, it's a good feeling and memory for sure. I have found only 3 in 40 years of detecting.

Congratulations on a great find!

Wow ... what a killer find - well done ! :beers:

Very nice Half Dollar. Congratulations!

Howdy KSkoinKING--

Nice score! My first Seated coin was also a Seated Half - a worn 1867-S. Too bad yours has all of those scratches on the obverse. Still, a very nice find. Congratulations! Best of luck and...

Happy Hunting!
