My first run with the Vaquero ......

Well the detector came in today. Put it all together and tested it out air test and seeing what different metals make. Then off to the park for about 35 minutes as I had little time.

First thing is GB this is a breeze. I mean really I do not see how some do not understand this part. Second thing is I love how light it is and that I can disc on the fly with just my thumb and it helps narrow it down. This detector is really easy to pinpoint with X it out its in dead center easy enough. This detector is a deep one :) I was digging holes 10" down a couple of times and had to give up in the park :( wish I had my Garrett pro pointer to let me know how close. It was a solid repeatable hit and I turned disc all the way up and it still hit so I wanted to dig it out. Pro pointer be back this week and I can go back for it.

I only managed a quarter in clad and 2 pull tabs but alot of lead sinkers on top that part was annoying. Also dug a lot of shotgun shells prolly 10 of them. I must say I really did not think I would like a non ID detector but it seems more fun to me :)

Well till I can get out again I will be getting a bigger shovel for the fields and waiting for my pro pointer for the parks!!

Great little detector cannot believe ya get so much from such a little detector :)

Man that's great to hear. My Vaquero is coming tomorrow in the big brown tuck. I'm so darn excited I hope I can sleep tonight. I have spent alot of time deciding which machine to get, and hearing what you had to say about the Vaquero just put the icing on the cake. Good luck on your hunts.:beers:

The more runs you make, the more time spent behind the control box the more you will learn what your single tone machine is telling you. You guys have got great machines and have many years of happy hunting ahead of you.

the vaq is a kick ass machine this is the fourth one ive owned and hottest one yet and the disc works really good i have not dug a rusty old nail yet so this is pretty good and run my disc level at foil mark and my vaq loves bullets and brass, had the high tone did'nt cut it for me like regular tone better, get the 5'75" coil and you will get the coins and better seperation

The V really is a fantastic all around machine. I have hunted with people with machines that cost twice as much and have found more on many occasions. Some people like the vaquero more then the tejon. The tejon is next on my list but it will be a while .

Silver Fox, imo the concentric. I'm in Kentucky and the ground is pretty stable and not much mineralization. I don't know if your new to metal detecting or not but if you are the concentric will probably be easier for you to pinpoint with. Just my 2 cents.

Congrats on the Vaquero! It is a great unit. IMHO I thought the GB very easy to do. You stick with it and learn it and you will be rewarded. Yes it is a deep unit. I am gonna have to get another one, Beale..
