Hi everyone,
I've only posted a few times here so far. I've lurked around the forums for about a year which is how long I've had my Garrett Ace 250. I'm still very much a newbie at MDing but I've been reading up on the forums getting all the tips I can. Well, I was out MDing in my parents front yard for lack of anywhere else to hunt. Their house was built in 1959. Low and behold I dig a silver saddle shaped ring outta the ground. I think it was around 8 inches deep. I had my sensitivity maxed out cuz I wanted to find the deepest which usually equals oldest stuff. So, my first thought was "hmm...kinda unusual design for a ring...let's go google it". So I did, and come to find out it is a Roy Rogers Sterling Silver Saddle Ring. I believe it was made in the 50's during the whole Roy Rogers craze. The first 3 pics are of the ring I found that I took with my web cam (which isn't very good quality ) and the latter ones are of the same ring that I found online in mint condition.
I also had a few questions. Before I ask, this ring is a keeper and I'm not trying to get it in perfect condition to sell. So, with that out of the way, how should I clean it? I've already tried some standard liquid silver jewelry cleaner, toothpaste & toothbrush, that whole aluminum foil/boiling water/baking soda trick. I've been thinking about trying that homemade electrolysis thing but haven't done that yet.
