Hi folks, just closed on a used but nearly new V. Should be here this week. Have been using a BH QDII and a older detector pro. Going to be a lot of problems learnign the GB for me I am sure but looking forward to enjoying using the tesoro! Will check in later, right now just rain over ice here. Scott

I have a high tone Vaquero, and lovce it. The ground balancing is no big deal. Welcome aboard!

Good machine. As the others posted, you'll have little or no trouble getting the hang of the manual ground balance. It does pay to recheck it from time to time if you're detecting an area where the mineralization changes every few yards.

I bet you won't be sorry.
After awhile, you'll get used to manual GB, then later you'll be doing it naturally without thinking about it. Then maybe (like me), you'll learn to appreciate it and actually prefer it.

Welcome aboard.

I think, like others say, that you will learn to ground balance quickly. It will take a little more time to learn the language of the beep, but it can be very expressive.

The "beep and dig" detectors are fun to hunt with.

Well Scott I had my first outing with my Vaquero at a local salt water beach. This is my first detector and I just got it after Christmas. Salt water beaches are the only places not frozen in eastern Canada. After doing the ground balance I was off and the first dig was a bottle cap at about 6 inches then a pull tab and then found a penny at 6 inches more tabs and a couple more penny's. One liquor bottle cap at 9 inches but it was under a 2 inch thick rock and the rock was covered with 6 inches of sand WOW. The deepest target was a wharf bolt that was 14 inches down and I only had a trowel.
Had lots of fun and would have dug a lot more targets if I had had a shovel or a beach scoop. I used the detector speaker as place was deserted.
I was concerned about the ground balance too Scott but had no problems and just did what the manual said. I have been back to the beach 2 more times and I consider my time at there a great training ground to learn the subtleties of the detector with easy sand digging on a deserted beach.
Hope your first outing goes well. This is my first post and have appreciated all the informative posts on this form.
Thank you
Don
