my biggest thing with this machine is learning how to proper ground balance, the CZ's are weird on how they go about it!

Hi amc

In the thread " CZ6a ground balancing" therover explains how to ground balance the CZ6a. The CZ3d ground balances the same, just practice with this procedure and you will do ok. It is important to turn sensitivity dial all the way up and also to turn volume dial all the way up to hear the threshold in auto-tune. Also wear headphones when doing this as the threshold sound is subtle.

ok you just answered some questions for me then and thank you about cranking the sens all the way up and volume when i finally get a tone as i back off the ground bal from 10 to 1 it will usually bal or back off about at 3 is this normal ?

My ground balance usually ends up at 5 on the dial, but on My ground. You want to have the G/B set so as you raise and lower the coil ( 8 inches to 1 inch above ground) the threshold tone remains at a constant level or same buzzzzzzzz sound. It is hard to explain in text, so that is my best explaination.

thats what i did tonight and i got the hang of it now, ok tell me this i notice sometimes i'll get a target that will start as a high tone and the next sweep will go to iron then back to high is it something mis shaped or or just something half corroeded or what are your thoughts i really like this machine and i really want to learn it!

When you get a target swapping between high tone and low tone, slow the sweep down, pretty slow. If it now stays low tone; that is a pretty good indication that it is iron. I also walk around a target while swinging slow over it to see if it stays high tone more when swinging from one orientation; may mean a good target, but partially masked by iron. If in doubt; dig and make observations about what you did and what the target is.
Cheers,
