Hey there everyone,DUG MY FIRST HUT SITE.Well the first one that i located and dug out myself.<img src="http://www.findmall.com/gallery/albums/userpics/13167/eb581.jpg" alt="" />

A friend at work turned me on to this site a few weeks ago,When i first arrived at the site it was just starting to be bulldozed for a housing development. This time i got there it was dug down about six to eight feet down for the roadway.The dozer just missed this hut by about three feet.When i finally realized that all those scattered bricks came from a hut site, i turned the detector off and started diggin. out popped these three eagle buttons,What a rush. there were broken medicin bottles,a broken pocket knife, and one 12" round iron lid from a kettle. The fired bullets were actually inside the hut site.And this location is near a battle field. What kind of story do these finds tell?

Looks like your on to a good site there. Its hard to see the pistol bullet in the pic but it does look simalar to a M&M 82 Early model, Colt 44. Where there any whole bottles in there?

Super finds!
What do I need to look for to find a hut site? If you went over that site before you started digging were the items so deep the detectors would have just skipped over them?
I believe some areas I hunt have hut sites but I dont know how to find them.

no whole bottles in the hut,just some broken med.bottles.Still tryin hard to dig one WITHOUT breakin one.Broke a nice whiskey at that creator at Hall town.Hate when that happens!!! Seeya!! Ed
 
I was begining to wonder if you were ok. Haven't seen a post from you in a while(unless I mist them)or you were just keeping a low profile on a hot spot.LOL!!!!!!buttons look great. JOE in MD

Very cool Ed! Is the site in West Virginia, or Virginia? I only dug on 2 hut hole's and somebody else dicovered them. But in that crater hole I found a nice ny,pipe bowl, and a whole food jar. Wish I could find more to dig. Need somebody to help ya dig those hut's? I think it's very neat to find ,and dig them, you never know what you'll find in them. HH Hope to ya at htown or another good site, soon, keep diggin and posting you've been finding a lot of great stuff.
 
I have just been too busy at work to even hunt much. Hope to get out more often, soon. im gunna make sure i got the 21st off though .Seeyallater...Ed
 
the site i found has been dozed allready, just lucky to find one hut the dozer missed by about three feet. Maby more,but it is a small lot,Unlike H town. the other two depressions i found in the ground turned out to be dog graves, BLaaaaaaa!!!!! I will stay in touch cause i may need help cleanin up anouther site we just found. seeyallater..Ed
 
There appears to be two pistol bullets. Can you post a better side view of them? One appears to be a Colt, the other a Bartholow w/pin cavity, but I'm not sure. GH, David
