My first official field hunt

I got the chance to do my very first field hunt. I have attached a pic of all the things that I found. I think you get the point.:surrender:

Don't give up buddy, we sometimes hunt all day for just one coin (or none) and that is in a field that has produced.

To help you know that you are in the right area, look for foundation stones and bricks. Old broken glass and pottery is the dead giveaway of an old structure for sure.

It's possible that your coil wasn't over the target. It will happen. I love field hunting since it's so relaxing. But then I love yard hunting also. Heck, I just like to metal detect. HH, Nancy

I'm not giving up quite yet. There's a field out there somewhere to hunt that has some goodies in it. Time for more research. :detecting:

It's out there...you just have to find "the spot". There's 28 million acres of farm land in illinois...average size of a farm around 368 acres...size of a piece of ground sold around 1820 was 80 acres that put aprox 4 homesteads on every average farm. Most early places were always near a stream...river or some form of water. It's out there if it was easy everyone would be out there. Also remember something about a school every 2 miles....not sure, anyway keep looking there's a lot of good stuff in dem beans.Happy Hunting!

I assume you are using your E-trac. Are you using Two tone ferrous? Make sure you have fast on and an open screen in TTF. You have to go very slow. The recovery speed of the etrac require a SLOW swing in TTF. If you have a small coil you may want to use that as well once you get into the heavy iron.

Thanks for the info guy's I really appreciate it. I was running the E-Trac with my 6X8 SEF coil in a modified coins program that I have. I will be quite honest I never even gave TTF a thought at all. I do have a wide open TTF program in the machine already I just forgot all about it. I will be running the TTF with fast on and deep off. I will give it a try the next time I head to the fields. Thanks all!!!
