My first month of finds with the CTX

pinger

New member
Only had the CTX for about 6 weeks, performs really well. Just having problems with the pin pointing on my last 2 hunts, but overall very happy.
Australian beaches don't have too many treasures but great for current coins, Still have not really done any parks or land sites yet because there are just
too many sticky beaks complaining. Anyway I added some photos.. best find wedding band 6 grams + bracelet.

You might want to try playing with your pinpoint settings. I like normal the best. Don't care for the sizing setting.

same I just stick with normal, but sometimes its way off target its weird. Other times its spot on. Hope its not a problem with the coil.

I have found that in pin pointing it is extremely accurate if you first get your signal you want to dig, use little tiny left right sweeps directly over that signal and while directly over it then press the pin pointer so that is the only target you are over. Little tiny 2 to 4" l/r sweeps and use the little red emblem on the 6" coil as the center. And, of course the iron sometimes will give you a coin type tone, but fuzzy icon, and when you pin point the target will shift to the actual iron. I dont use the larger coils much but on the factory middle sized coil I do the same process. .

Nice Finds :clapping:

How I would normally refer to these morons would be some foul language but thought it inappropriate so I used sticky beak (trying to be nice)
..would be a person or persons who come right up to you and says "what do you think your doing digging holes in the park" in a very rude way - like they own the public park.. makes me laugh. :detecting:

Just people who are ignorant in thinking we will leave a mess or holes. I always try to dig small plugs and replace as it came out.. people don't take time to observe the process and inspect. They just jump straight into
Park Police Mode .

hopefully I will get the pin pointing sorted , i'm thinking the same with the mixed signals close together and it jumps from one to the other. Still learning and listening.

Nice finds. You are doing good with the CTX.

I usually pinpoint off the end or back of the coil. When over your target slowly back off the coil until tone stops right off tip of the coil. Target will be there at the tip of the coil. You can also do that with the back of the coil. Works like a charm for me.
