I live in mount juliet tennessee and I am wondering what detector would be a good first time purchase? Thanks

We need to know what you are interested in hunting for.

Do you want a display?

What types of areas do you want to hunt?

How much money you got to spend?

There a lot of different metal detectors out there that do different things.

I could tell you to get one like mine, but that might not do.

Most people will have an openion for what suits them.

What suits you???

I like gold jewelry and relics/ artifacts.

I have moderate soil, but sometimes gets ironey.

I hunt parks, tot lots, and old places I research.

Happy Hunting,

Hi Keg, when I was living and hunting in the middle tenn area , I was using
Tesoro's . Great little relic machines , and you are in a Fantastic Area for relics

hi keg! welcome aboard. i think you should buy a tesoro product, namely the cibola model or the vaquero. let's just go on and cut to the chase - there's a very short and sweet learning curve, if it beeps, something's there, it's rugged and dependable, large cents at 13", civil war bullets at 12", and a bb at 6". yup. silver ring at 12", and broken signals on most trash. does real well around powerlines and most hot ground. and it tells no lies. that's important.

and all of this comes with a lifetime warranty. who else has that? nobody. so, like i said, let's cut to the chase and get a good machine in your hands. when you pull the tesoro out the car, the boys know you mean business. i used to recommend other machines that were cheaper, but no longer do. your're smack dab in the center of relic country, so it won't take long for the machine to pay for itself. didn't take me long either! good luck, and hh,

Gray Ghost's suggestions are right on. I'd lean to the Vaquero for the manual ground balance for times you hunt in tougher mineralization. My two bits.

Believe me, Gray Ghost is an awsome relic hunter.

He's not the only relic hunter that swings Tesoro.

The Vaquero is also very sensative on small gold jewelry.

As you know I kind of like the Eldorado and Euro Sabre.

The Vaquero more or less replaced the Eldorado.

Both are great relic hunters.

The vaquero seems to have more depth than the Eldorado,

but the Eldorado is a little better in iron.

That's my opinion.

The depth the Vaquero gets on small gold can be impressive.

The light weight of Tesoro'es is a great pluss.

What ever you decide, I hope the best for you.

Happy Hunting,

Tabdog
