Ya there I was, just got my first ever metal detector yesterday, took a half day off from work today just so I could begin on my treasure quest. To be honest, I really have no idea what I'm doing (I've been reading all I can but nothing beats the MD in your hand) but I turned it on, twisted the one on the left to the "O" in foil( I think I read that somewhere) and cranked it up to 8 on the right.

It started beeping and I began to fantasize how I would explain to my wife that I discovered a gold mine in the backyard when I discovered the nail. Undeterred I set out again, dug another beep and produced my 2nd nail. I seem to have discovered where all the nails that are supposed to be in my house went.

Either way I'm in it for the long haul although I'll probably wet my pants when I actually find something of value.

One less thorn in Mother Nature's backside .... I am sure she is grateful !

Well, sometimes you gotta clear the junk out to find the good targets, first things first.

while locating a "gold coin",or maybe even silver! he! eh! heh!
