Been looking for this coin for 3 years. Ain't the prettiest...but oh, so pretty to me!
Thanks to my hunting partner Scott...AKA Catskill Comics who is 95% permission rate. He has been so helpful.
Can't read the date yet, but based on the design, it appears to be this pictured coin. Only issued from 1796-1807.
Was thinking about using the potato trick but don't want to lose the patina. Guess I am going to use more EVOO.
Any advice is always appreciated.
I also found this buckle on a 300 yr. old estate with given permission. The luggage tag, I found a bit back near a train station. I am certain it is a luggage tag as it is very pliable.

Congrats on the find. when i found my large cent i threw it in the tumbler for a short while but it wasn't in that bad of shape to begin with.

Looks like ur the lucky winner, congrats!! :beers:

That is a great first largie!!! Great find!

That's a good old copper coin! WTG!

Now comes the real challenge ... cleaning it up without destroying it. But they seem to be much easier than IH's to clean. Take the simple route... poroxide, tumbling, then if you dont think it will pit elctralicist. I use ketchup for the clean up because sometimes electralicist turns them redish. Ketchup tends to return them to their natural color. No sand paper or steel wool LOL... ive seen that done. Let us know what you used and how it turned out.
