My First Keeper Cache

New member
I detected a local park that was a private girls camp from 1902-1993. It is that one older park nearby that you like to go to when you are on a losing streak and need to find that keeper. I can always count on finding something good there. I decided to try a different part of the park and just happen to lay the coil down in the right spot. I got a strong audio signal for about 7" down, but it was pinpointing to be kinda big. I figured it was just a can or piece of junk metal, but decided to dig anyway. I was pleased to discover my first decent cache. I have found new penny and quarter caches before, but nothing old. I ended up with 26 large cent Canadian pennies ranging in date from 1909-1917.

That is way COOL,:clapping: a find like that leaves you with a pretty neat feeling. I Can relate as I know how I felt when I found my $5 dollar gold coin and every neat older item that I have found over the years. Old stuff is just cool to find....

Great Job, :twodetecting:

Bill, I agree. Old stuff is just really cool to find. A $5 dollar gold coin would keep me on cloud nine for a good 20-30 years.

Just got the dfx in Nov 2006. Last detector used..still have is a whites 6000 Di series 3....used only once in a great while, mainly 20 years ago! here is a picture>

That is awesome!! I have that exact same detector. It was my dads when I was growing up. When I took an intrest in detecting last year, he gave it to me. Great machine, but I knew I was missing out, so I upgraded to the DFX.

Ok you have a dfx! There you go! No wonder you found that nice loot! getting the dfx was the best decision I made!:whites: All I have to do is make sure the parks I hit are infested with humans!!! Have a good one, Gregg.

The DFX is a great detector and one of my favorites. I hunted with one straight for 2 years and got a good feel for it, but you no whats funny is I still like the Whites XL Pro better. I have found more stuff with it than any other machine I have tried and I find it ID'S better than any detector that I have tried. I also like the Whites M6 2nd to my XL Pro.

In the last 15 years I have had and owned the DFX,MXT,XLT, along with the XL Pro and the M6 listed above.I have found great stuff with all of them, but Out of all the Whites detectors listed, my first favorite is the .XL Pro - 2.M6 - 3.DFX - 4.MXT - 5.XLT. I know that there are many different opinions on detectors and I am glad you got the feel for the DFX, it will kick butt in the right hands.

Take Care,
Bill G

I chose the dfx because I like all the options. I enjoy being able to make changes, sometimes I feel like i have the mxt, m6 and xlt all in one! Please I don't need someone to answer they are different, I know that ...it is a figure of speech! I have also heard great stuff about the xl.

Also we could probably have a poll with 100 people and I am sure the list you provided could be rotated and mixed by each person. But it is what works for each person, glad the xl works for you. I would not trade my dfx for any detector on the market right now..including the exploder...opps I mean explorer...

Everything you said is so true Gregg, the right detector for a guy is the one that works for him personally the best. I feel the same way and will never get rid of my XL Pro as Whites quit producing them a 2005.

Yes I would say you have all three of the detectors you mentioned sort of in one with the DFX. I think Whites will continue to have good sales with the DFX for a long time to come as it is a great detector, like I said, in the right hands the DFX will kick butt............. Again if there was a pole like you said, all the detectors mentioned would be in it.

I went from a 1985 Whites 6000 to the DFX in 2006. I can't say that I noticed any difference. HaHa!! Just kidding of course. As long as it is a Whites, I am happy.

To funny............. He He !!! :starwars:

Take care,
