My first Indian!

"Dr.Tones"

New member
I went back to hunt a 1905 house today for the second time. Right off the bat I got a high tone mixed in with a medium tone. It sounded like combined mode was having trouble deciphering what bin to put the target in. The machine was reading 7-8 inches and bouncing from 12:43 to 12:35. I dug down about 7" and there she was, my oldest coin to date and my first Indian. 1897. I got so excited that I almost forgot to re-scan my hole... Guess what? Two wheats chillin right next to it. I know some of you guys find these all the time but for us hear in the Boise area they can be few and far between. Thanks for looking.

Very nice. 1800's are always great, and so are wheaties. I love em!!!

naaaaaw,,,,, it's a BIG DEAL,,,,, congrats !!!!

Congratulations Brandon, firsts are always special. Here is to many more.....

Way to remember to recheck the hole. I have a problem with that when I find a first or something really good. Good finds keep after it

WTG CONGRATS!
I still remember my first Indian and still love finding them

Congrats! I think you were getting what I call my whupwhup signal. Try setting your 2nd profile to 50CO/Ferrous Coin and use it to test those weird signals. 50CO will/should give you a solid tone.

Canuck- that's exactly what it sounded like. I actually did switch to 50 CO and it sounded really unstable and it was still blending tones. But since it was repeating in all directions I was curious. I'm pretty sure the tone blending whoop whoops came from having multiple targets in close proximity with different TID/ tonal characteristics. The machine was trying to tell my dumb ass that there was a pocket spill :yo: however... I do still run into those targets that can't decide what bin to fall into... And I always dig them! I've had three targets recently that that gave me a whoop whoop and they turned out to be rings! Every single one of them had a solder line through them from being re-sized. Which if you thing about it, it makes perfect sense... The machine saw two different conductors.

My whupwhups are usually a single coin on edge. But yes it pays to dig if it sounds interesting.

Great find neicebdog on the indian keep a eye on that 12.35 area that's where they like to hit.sube

Congrats on your first IH cent. It is one you will remember forever. Sounds like (no pun intended) you are getting the hang of hunting by ear. Your experience offers some excellent advice.......multiple tones = multiple targets. HH Randy

Congrats on your first Indian - I remember my first one - very exciting, since it is one of my fave coins. Now that you have one under your belt they will hopefully start showing up in the hole regularly!
