My First Hunt with the AT PRO

New member
Hi all I am new to the forum and a new user of the AT Pro. Today was my first official hunt and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Getting use to the machine and watching as many videos as possible. I found a lot of caps and tabs which registered as good targets however you have to take the good with the bad. Here is my first find at Cocoa Beach in Florida not much to speak of but I am sure with time it will get better.

Congrats on the new machine!! Once you are used to the machine run it in PRO mode and the audio will be a dead giveaway on bottle caps...thus you will not dig any more of them. Now pull tabs...DIG THEM ALL!! If you have not watched my video, check it out and you will see why. If you don't dig tabs you will miss gold.

Welcome to the forum. You've got the right mindset--each time out you will learn more and the finds will increase. Good luck!

Thanks Diggin-it I really appreciate the video and the support. When you run it in Pro mode do you do you run it in the coin mode or zero. Also when running it in the coin mode will you also locate Gold? Any help is appreciated I try to watch as many video's as I can over and over to try to learn the machine. I understand that using the machine is the best teacher. Also can you tell me once I hit a target and dig say 4-8 inches no target found so I scan the area again and it still gives a profound sound do you just keep digging deeper? Just curious..

Thanks,

Congrats on the finds and your new detector. You may want to hunt in Pro Zero mode - a lot of people have been finding gold rings in the 50s - 60s - you wouldn't want to miss those! ( or Pro Custom- you can set it up just how you like it and it will remember your settings). re: deep targets - a good test is to lift your coil up. If you're still getting a signal at 10 -12 inches, it isn't a coin - probably a can or chest of pieces of eight... :super:

Run it in either PRO Zero, if you want to hear everything, iron and all. Or run in PRO Custom with the Discrimination set at like 35. Some run at 40 but in my video I show that tiny 14K hoop earring hitting at 38-39. I have never run in Coin mode. If you get a Repeatable signal and dig but don't find the target, then rescan and still get a repeatable signal then it is probably one of 2 things. One, your pinpointing could be off and you are not digging in the right spot. Or 2, it could be a large target that is deep...like a can buried like 12" deep. Thing is, if the detector is giving you a repeatable signal then there is something there.

Just Diggin It I really appreciate all the info and help I will definately take your advice and run it in the pro mode (zero) I was actually doing a search beside my house when I got that signal. I dug 20" lol and never found anything however still got a strong signal. It was beside a metal barn so I am assuming it may have been feednback from that. I finally covered the hole back up and still got the signal. At any rate I am going to take your advise hunt in pro and just dig away. Thanks for all your help I will keep you posted. Any help is always appreciated you have been a great help along with others.

Thanks a MIL fhrbroker
