My first hunt with my Gold Bug Pro

I traded for it. I went to an old school I've been there a few times with a friend. The temp was 33 deg F. It was hunted really hard with an AT Pro, 1236x2 & Advantage. We started digging any deep iffy targets. There is quite a bit of iron there but I took the 11" coil. I dug a one way signal that was a 22 shell. I got another good signal, the numbers were bouncing around low like foil and I dug a 1945P silver war nickel. The GB is very sensitive and I was getting a lot foil signals locked on completely between 40-46. A lot of signals were locked on completely at 40. I also dug a kids wallet about a foot away from where my friend had dug a token before. The GB hit on the snap in the wallet. Nothing in it though. I am enjoying the GB a lot.

I took it to my test garden that I put in early this summer. I was happy with the depth I was getting with 11" coil. 7 1/2" nickel with trash mixed in was hitting good with coil 2"+ off the ground. 7 1/2" dime hit soft with the coil 1"+, 8" quarter hit good with coil 1" + and 7 penny hit good with coil 2"+ . The ground was damp and is starting to freeze.

Good report Rick! The Fisher Gold Bug Pro is the best machine in trash and heavy iron I have ever used. I LOVE that machine. Very sensitive and runs super quiet due to the dual processors. Very easy to use machine.

I like it. Still not sure if I want the 5x10 coil. The 11" coil was working really well. The place is loaded with iron though as most places are that I hunt. The 5" coil is so small it seems like it would take forever hunting an are. Still thinking I might like the 5x10. Why do some not like it?

God Bless, Merry Christmas,

Bart----Are you liking the GB Pro better than the G2 in trash & heavy iron?-----What advantage do you see the GB Pro having over the G2 in that senario?

If your talking the coil size, the 5" is amazing in trash and iron! Best machine for that I have ever used. Runs quiet too.

If your talking machine, I can't tell any difference in thetwo myself.

I'm thinking that the only difference is software as the pro is last I heard version 4.0 and the newest G2s are 1.0. I don't have the pro but have a gold bug 2.0 just before the 2.9 and there is a definite personality difference between them. I'm still evaluating but my g2 appears to have a higher base discrimination as it will silence some small iron when set at 0 disc and the GB hears more of the small iron. (I know its noisier but I like to hear everything so I know when to slow down)
Just a guess but I think the software on the G2 was tailored a little more toward the relic side of the hunt.
A few months after getting My GB they came out with the 2.9 and I was disappointed that I did not get the latest version. Now I have the latest and I'm glad I bought early I like having both non VCO and VCO machines that are primarily the same.

If they have the same coil on there is no difference other than the shafts. Dave J. Confirmed that on another forum the other day.
