My first hunt today with the MXSport and

Did a couple passes and batteries died. That was the end of my hunt :veryangry: I forgot to bring batteries with me.

Rick

The batteries were bad in a new machine Sir ??

wow..keep us posted about the battery wear please..

The batteries that are shipped with the MX Sport are crap. Get yourself a good set of 8 High QUALITY AA's before you go on a hunt. The supplied batteries are only good for familiarizing new owners with the tones and headphones.

Rick,

When I returned my test MXS I also returned the 8 x AA's unused - "Nuon" brand (don't know anything about them?)

If and when a test detector shows up at my door the 1st thing I do is check the batteries (if they are supplied) with a multimeter.
Then I chuck them in a drawer and insert fresh "Duracell's" also checked with a multimeter.
Sure, it costs me a few bucks each time but then I rarely get caught out (as Rick found to his time wasted)

The 'Ever Ready Black Cat's' that Garrett supplied are a disaster!
They are now after switching to "Duracell's" I believe?

Those nuons are generally very good! I had a set of those in my MXT pro, and I believe they lasted almost 40 hours. I could be wrong about that many hours, but I know they lasted longer then the energizers I usually used.

I still have mine in mx sport. Reading full on meter also. 20+ hours so far
