My First Hunt Ever!!!!!!!!!!!!:detecting:

Well I finally went out and used my Ace 250 for the first time!!!! I just went to my local tot lot. its all clad and memorials, but I did find 2 heavy gauge aluminium chunks. The ground is frozen here so I could only get at the coins within the top inch of the wood chips, but when the ground thaws I know where to go!!!!

1999 Washington quarter
2005 Roosevelt dime
1969 Jefferson nickle
1976 Lincoln penny
1993 Lincoln penny
2001 Lincoln penny

= 43 cents first time out!!!

On the other end, once I was done I went back to my car and it wouldn't start. I called a friend to come and give me a jump. When I got home I tried to start my car again and its wouldn't. So this isn't good. Looks like I'm gonna have to get a new alternator. The battery not even clicking when I try to start the car, so I am pretty sure its the alternator.

So my hands are still shaking from the excitement of my first finds, and I want to go back out, but I don't have a car at the moment!!!!:ranting:

There you go, your hooked now. Wait until it thaws, you will have a ball.

Great job! If you find a lot of nickels you will eventually find some gold. It was a few hunts before I found my first nickel.

That is really good compared to my first three days ago.

I had about a pound of rusty nails, a double hand full of pull tabs and a old Army button. There's no tot lots here. I don't think they raise them anymore. But plenty of old settlements and old home sites. I'm haven a fun time cleaning the yard up of buried junk.

Sorry to here about your car. I went out in the snow today and stayed after dark. When I got back to my four wheeler the brakes froze up and I had to kick the tires for about 45 minutes.

I found this yesterday besides the Army button in the right corner.

yep I know what you mean about frozen mulch, I need to return to every tot lot for goodies I could not dig. Frozn mulch is harder to dig than the ground! I cannot believe how hard that stuff freezes

Yea, I had a nail extractor (wonder bar) but that didn't help at all, Water settled in the voids of the mulch and froze, and trying to breakthrough did no good, as every time I took a whack at it, I just hit wood chunks and, not to mention Ice. yea, I'm going to wait till the ground thaws. Another thing, I'm pretty sure that I'm the only person that metal detects there. I drive past this location every day. When I was out there, people walking there dogs looked at me like I was crazy. I am taking this as a great sign. As a dog needs to be walked every day, and if they seen somebody Md'ing on an occasional basis, they shouldn't look so surprised when they see me, and all of my finds were found practically on the surface. so thats good news for me!!!!

I have only ever saw people with detectors at my local fairgrounds and nowhere else in my town, maybe they don't know where all to go, good 4 us!

Well done treasurefiend,
The best thing is you found stuff on your first hunt (bet you did the dance) and in difficult conditions.
Hey, just wait till the summer comes you'll go mad. ( well, madder)
