My First Half Dollar

GoGoGopher

New member
Found my first half dollar today along a fence line at a ball field of an Elementary school...
Someone asked about the trash I dig...Well I decided to show the clean stuff...Not pictured is a huge hunk of rusty mud covered iron...

HH,

Gopher, which coil were you using near the fence, the 5.3 or the 3.5? I have a Bullseye 5.3 for my QXT and really love in park and school
enviroments. It's quickly becoming my favorite coil.

I was actually using the 950...I was too lazy to switch...I can get about 1-1 1/2 feet away from the fence...If you walk down the fence line, you know your going to get a high tone as you swing to the fence...anything swinging away from the fence I check with short quick sweeps over that area to confirm...I am looking for one way signals first, then confirm wiht the wiggle...
I hunt in coin and jewelry mode, volume full, threshold 11, sens 16-18, pp sens 16, DISC on, VCO on, Noise Redux on, accept all zones but 1 and 8, high tones on zone 4 and 7 only...if I am in an area that might hold interesting relics, I hunt in the mixed mode and accept all zones in the disc, and high tones on zones 2, 4, and 7.
I have the 5.3 and the 3.5 coil...I just did not feel like switching just to do the fence line...

HH,

Some good looking finds there. The first of any new coins dig is a new Mark on a Hunter time line.

I now hunt with a DFX with 950. Shorthing after I got it I pick up a 4X6 coil, but like I too am to Luzy change coils. Now I just turn down the A.C. sen. that way I can get 6inch from a fence or tat-lot equipment without lossing a lot of depth.

In (most) schools and parks 6 inches is about as deep as I will dig.
