I went to a jeweler I know and showed him the diamond ring I found yesterday.

He said that it is a higher quality than a department store ring.

After cleaning and polishing the ring would be worth at least $300 retail, maybe more.

I went by Wal-Mart and looked at their rings with the same size diamond and they looked very plain compaired to the one I found. The diamonds were less briliiant than the one I found. Their rings were $ 200 to $ 250.

I guess some of you guys have been through this before. The jeweler buys jewelry at below whole sale and has a considerable mark up. If I got the ring cleaned and polished, I could probably get a lot more money selling the ring on the Internet than what the jewler would give me. So I still have it. It's worth something to me as a trophy.

Another thing to consider right now is that gold jewelry is fixing to go up in price due to a rise in gold prices.

This is by far the best find I have ever dug:)

HH,

TD............Congratulations !!! Thats a nice find for certain.....And the Jeweler was right..There are different quality diamonds.

Most of the (Since you used the name) Walmart stuff is high in carbon diamonds. less brilliant, lower quality ,and not as many facets for showing stones best shine.

Gold price may be the thing to look at...Used rings just do not garner a high return in resale unless they are magnificent specimens.
