Finally got a chance to go out with my new CTX but could only water hunt as the ground seemed to have ravines everywhere.. That makes me think I'd even kick me out if I saw myself digging in a park... Not too experienced with water hunting as I spent my first hour or two just getting used to hitting what I found with the scoop. Left quite a few targets that I just couldn't ever seem to get out of the rocky remnants of a lake bed that was 15 feet low and only had a beach because they poured one there. It was way above us.
I still have a Gary Storm made original Excalibur in pretty much mint shape that I lent to Goldigger and we headed down to the big lake I keep my camper on and meet up with Ray MO.. Found my share of junk pull tabs and assorted bits of metal.
It was very easy to set it up for the sounds I like to hear coming from my old Excal. Low growls and all that. I hit an old silver necklace with purity stamp on it first despite my promises to myself not to dig coins.Sounded and rang like a quarter so I dug. Looks to be gold plated but the chain has the stamp on it so I knew what that meant.

A little while later I got the low growl and pulled up my first gold with the CTX. It was an earring but was a large earring. Had a 10K stamp on it on the inside. Golddigger had already found two rings, one stainless and one Tungsten. The Tungsten was pretty cool looking and actually fit me so perfectly I swapped him for the gold. I never seem to sell anything anyway. Here's the earring.

As I mentioned we did meet up with Ray MO and he managed the only gold ring any of us found. I'm sure he'll put it up soon. He also needs to post a dry land find he got the other day which shows the absolute unbelievable versatility of the CTX. It's an awesome find of a long ago spill that he pretty much knew was coming before he dug or at least quickly understood what the screen had been telling him once he saw the find.
That was the first time underwater for my CTX and it had zero problems as did Ray's CTX. The Minelab Excalibur did it's usual workmanlike job also. Just had to pry it away from Jim afterwards...
On the bad side Golddigger started a series of bad events that started with him dropping a large diamond earring back into the lake followed by us not being to pull it back out as it appeared to be too small to be able to keep it in normal scoop. That was followed by a storm that chased us off the beach followed by the electric being knocked out by this vicious thunderstorm and getting to sit in an air conditioner-less camper for about 6 hours after another 100 plus degree day. His back finished him off when he woke too sore to hunt again this morning. Be careful who you bring...
Guvner..
