My first gold ...and diamonds with the excal!

Well...it's my first gold and diamonds with any machine! Namvetles called the night before and got the detecting fever going. Went out to a local river beach for about an hour. Time was limited because I had to pick my son up from school. First thing I found was a nickel. That was a good sign! The 22 mag casing was a pain in the butt. It kept falling through the scoop holes:veryangry: The ring was about in knee deep water! The last thing I found was the playboy earing. Boy did that lady scream when I pulled it off of her!! It had a fake stone eye, but a I guess it fell out along the way.

A friend checked the stones. They are diamond.

It's quite a rush having something that fine in yer scoop, 'eh? I think that it would be advisable to go back and hunt that a while longer, to make sure you cover it all! You can resolve the small targets falling through, by installing a fine wire 1/8"-1/4" screen in the bottom of the scoop. I used to have this screen all the way around inside my bucket, but the sand escaped too slowly, so just left the circle in the bottom. There are not many targets to fall through now! GREAT FIND Woods Walker!

And thanks everyone for all the comments! Yes I have the bug bad but it is hard to make time sometimes to enjoy this wonderful hobby.

I will be making an effort to get back to this river beach. I want to hunt it extensively...I get the impression that it has been neglected.

I want to hunt it first with the excal then come back with my tiger shark for possible small gold!
