My first Explorer mod 8-10 years ago,

Old California

Here's what's left of my first Explorer mod, originally started with a different battery housing then went with a gutted SunRay stand when they came out.

A gutted SunRay stand will hold 8 AA batteries, and still allow you to use the 1/4 headphone plug. You can still use a Whites arm rest if you perfer.

Here's an idea for those searching for a battery compartment, it works can't get any lighter than this setup.

Here's a few SunRay Explorer stand close-up pics for those searching for a neat lightweight arm-rest battery compartment. Can easily be modified to fit any handle and use the arm rest you perfer.

Can find these on the Classifies,

NIce Work, and very clean............joe

Thanks Joe,

Here's an idea for those wanting to use a lighter version of the SunRay probe setup with a modified Explorer, it eliminates the outside SunRay switch box and extra connector while allowing full use of the probe.

The switch box is mounted inside underneath the of Meter housing, every wire is soldered directly inside no connector.

This is a mock setup, but I'm going to add this same setup to my modified Explorer. Will post pics when this probe mod is completed.

Thanks again,
Paul (Ca)

Thanks, Paul

Some intense inside details you have done. Great Job, got any pic's of the inside setup?

Are you using a switch like Big Fang?

How is your pod attached to the shaft?

Hi Paul,

I remember this mod and the many other great mods you've done over the years. That Explorer multi coil selector was a good one.
I also remember Beachcombers and the some others. All pretty good.

Do you remember that mod that Bob at Birch Engineering, (Explorer HMK- Hip Mount Kit fame) did where he housed the Explorer control box, in a water proof case and used a magnetic stick, through the plastic of the box, to alter the settings via those magnetic switches, without having to open the box .
Do you have any pictures of that mod that you may have kept.
Can you post any?
