1851, IM SO EXCITED BUT CHECK OUT THIS OLD STAMP I FOUND TO. IT SAYS TIME ON TOP AND BOTTOM SAYS THE WEEKLY NEWS MAGAZINE WOW I HAVE NO IDEA HOW IT ENDED UP HERE I HAVE SOME HISTORY HERE I NEED TO CHECK ON THANKS FOR LOOKING BRYAN WOO HOOO LARGE CENT I FEEL LIKE LARRY

That is my "Goal" coin. but early currency seems to be rare here in farm country. It seem's that bartering was more common and money was spent wisely:confused:

Your stamp looks like ones used by newspapers years ago. Perhaps TIME magazine ran ads in local newspapers to drum up business. Congrats on the LC. Get some expect advice before you try to do any cleaning on it.

I'm so happy you found a LC Bryan, I don't feel so bad finding one in your turf now. Congratulations.........

thanks every one larry i found it a block from where you found yours, and by the way how did you clean yours so far i used toothpaste and tooth brush its in good shape

it bounced around in the 80,s all the way to 89 but it wasnt very deep believe it or not it was only about 4 inches deep, i always hunt in relic mode trigger forward since doing this my finds have increased 100%

Back when all newspapers were printed with hand set type, each individual letter had to have a type face the height of your find. Words with large type that were oftern used, the whole word would be built into a single block of letters as your find shows......Coach C

I think your way is as good as any Bryan. I use soap, water and a vegetable brush, sometimes a brass brush on really hard to clean coppers and nickels. Most copper and nickel finds are beyond having any collector value, but always be on the lookout for rare dates before getting carried away with cleaning.

Wow congratulations!!:clapping: That is a super cool coin!

The first of many to come. I enjoy making "1st" finds, such as the 1st large cent I fund in my favorite ghost town, or the 1st Large Cent I found at an old stage stop, and even the 1st large Cent I popped at an old, wooded river-crossing site.

My 1st ever Indian Head cent, or the 1st Indian Head from my favorite ghost town, 1st Indian Head cent from any particular town I have hunted, 1st Indian Head cent at an old mining camp, etc., etc.

I other works, don't let the accomplishment and thrill of making a "1st Find" end with your first Large Cent. Just develop a "1st" mentality so that future achievements will be equally (or almost) as rewarding. :)

So, again, Congratulations!! :clapping:

Monte

Way to go Bryan! That's so cool and it couldn't have happened to a better person. I'm sure you'll be pulling more wonderful finds out of there. Thanks for posting. I love the TIME piece too. That's pretty neat. HH, Nancy
