My first ever hunt today - Atlantic city, NJ

Sorry but I just have to share, since my wife doesn't share my excitement for this... It was my first time ever using metal detector. I am totally hooked!!!

Went to Atlantic City beach today, started at nine, hunted for five hours with couple of short breaks. about equal time in the surf and dry sand.

I dug out every signal - even though some were clearly bottle caps - i learned how they sound quickly.

Loved it. Ring and quarters are LOUD. Ring was in the surf.

Now for my next hunt i will have to get decent stainless steel scoop - digging out coins and bottle cups with cheapo - hand help plastic scoop (8 dollars on eBay with free shipping, lol) was a chore!!!

I did not get too many bobby pins? I did threw away few sharp and rusty fishhooks - so they are not in-the pictures. Another item not in the picture is two pounds loud-ringing rock i dug out from over two feet depth... it was old iron chunk i guess, all rusted and corroded. I did check questionable items with magnet.

By the way CORONAS seems to be the beer of choice for the beach, lol.
Cheers!!!

Nice first time out and a ring, that is great . Atlantic City beach will see how many million people and maybe1% will lose something???---------GH--------after1-----------

Thank you for sharing..and bringing back good memories for a lot of us old timers....:clapping:...

oh oh...sounds like you got it real bad. i bet youre already thinking about a new detector..
careful when driving in traffic. you'll be suddenly twisting your neck and back 90 degrees around when you
catch sight of a possible prime detecting spot from the corner of your eye.
dirty nails will be common now. your wife will get a boyfriend and you wont care because
you will be here on the forums learning all you possibly can about this awesome hobby
the only time you wont be here is when youre out detecting..
BTW....nice first digs.

Congrats on your first hunt!

Great first hunt, you worked for everything you found and it gets better.
So what's the dealio on the ring and the earring?
Any marks that you can see?
Hard to tell but that ring does have kind of a slight resemblance to gold and that earring might be silver.
In saltwater gold might tarnish a bit and not look so shiny so look close at the inside to see if there any marks at all.
As far as that earring I found one similar to yours and even though I was sure it was silver it was hard to find a mark.
I finally located it and it was the smallest 925 I have ever seen on any jewelry I have ever found.
Look on the crossbar of mine in the pic below...you can barely make it out but it does say 925.
To find silver on your first hunt is fantastic, to find gold is doubly so but to find both is a very rare thing indeed.
Even if not true both of those rare metals will be showing up soon for you I am sure.

Oh goodie for you. Be nice ,fill your holes, get permission. By the way, my husband and I are both into it. Let her find something neat (plant it if you have to) and maybe she will go for it. Be persistant, you get skunked A LOT! Nice luck , a ring on the first try. Learn the machine and stay with it.Glad to hear you're one of us now, hee hee.

We can add one more to our ranks! congrats on the finds and love for this hobby.

Fantastic first effort , now that you are hooked the guys on the forum will look after you . The disease is incurable so don't bother getting a doctor's opinion . :detecting: Can't recall reading what detector you were using .

Cheers

Hey man, that's awesome for your first outing. Mine was mostly nails and a old horse shoe! Lol. But hey, I'm in south jersey as well so if you ever wanted to get together.. I'd be up for it!
Best of luck with your adventures and HH
