May infringe on 'found today' rules, so will post here.

Drove 3 hrs to get to a site I had scoped for over a week on Google earth,
had to go before it was supposed to start dumping snow.

Going up the road, about a 1/4 mile from the site,

I found: snow on a slight grade, had to back down.

Stopped at an open area,

I found: a buried AA Battery
I found: a buried Mountain Dew can

(yes, I removed them to dispose of.....slobs)

I was going to go to my backup site at a lower altitude down the highway,
got down the dirt road back to the highway,

I found: This

I was only up about a 1/2 hour and the gate was locked behind me.
If you knew me you wouldn't be at all surprised.

Unlike Paul Harvey you didnt give us "The Rest Of The Story." How did you manage to get out of there?

Oh yeah,

Well, fortunately I was smart enough to put 3 Forestry Station numbers in my
phone, the day before I went up. Barely any signal on my cell and 5 dropped
calls got on w/someone long enough to tell where I was.

After being stuck there for about 45 minutes, someone came and let me out.

I had actually contemplated: 'Do I want to ruin the front of my truck, or the back
ramming this gate?'.

Good thinking on your part! :clapping:...note to self: add a set of big bolt cutters to my kit..:clapping:

this is a true story, with permission i was hunting an old site on some upper acreage accessible by one narrow road. There where several quarries i passed on the way up the mountain very early in the morning. Come about 3 in the pm had to get home to get dinner going for my family and more. Came down the road and there was a wall of stone, most the size of bowling balls or larger, about 5 feet high and 30-40 feet long, blocking the road. They dumped em them from about 30 feet above for the trucks to come and haul away. Away from that pile and off to the side I climbed part of the cliff, tearing a leg muscle along the way, and waved frantically to get their attention. They didnt know id come in earlier in the day. So they bring in a front end loader to grade this huge pile of rocks into a dome shape and urged me to be on my way. I had a rather modern, foreign made low to the ground car. I thought for sure the under carriage was going to get ripped to shreds crossing that "bridge". Some how i made it out. I was practically crippled for several weeks after that. It was pure adrenaline that at the time made me keep going even though my leg was hurt quite badly. It was like no, you are going to keep going even in your leg isnt working very improperly. That was a couple years ago, and has given me cause for thought as to hunting alone in the woods anymore. Im very careful as to not rip that muscle again when i hunt these as it still acts up on occasion. Good hunts all, CO

I thought about the bolt cutters too, but if the cops found them in your vehicle here in Ca, you'd be
there quite a while trying to convince them that you had them for legitimate reasons. But, they
would probably look good in the trunk, next to the machete', shovel and duct tape.

Osgood, sorry about the leg tearing story and at least you got out, but the visual of coming upon a
giant pile of rocks (I hate to admit) is just too funny!....maybe we're related.

So, as far as my quest to get to that one point as in my original post.
After the 1st trip w/the ugly gate locked incident.
2 more trips to try alternate dirt roads to get to the original road (gate's still locked), almost tore my
truck apart.
I made one more trip bound and determined to search this one site, that was now $ 240 in gas total.
I got as close as I could to a branch of the road from the highway, I grabbed all my gear and my GPS,
over 2 miles w/my asthma inhaler (trust me I needed it), through the hills and the road all uphill, I finally
got to my site I had obsessed over 3 weeks to get to.

I just wanted to find something/anything 1. To prove I wasn't wasting my time and my theory was
correct and 2. That no one but a lunatic would have gone that far in to search the area.

After about 20 minutes, right on the side of the road only 3" deep:

Rang up as 'high' value, it appears to be something like a copper saddle, gun belt, belt, stud.
I just needed this to prove my OCD is worth it, I have an area of approx. 4,400 square feet to go.

PS Was about 4:30 pm still took almost an hour to get back to the truck, why I didn't keep
searching, wanted to get back to the truck before the bears and mountain lions came out for dinner.
