My first dig!

The Silver uMax came today and was a piece of cake to assemble, so I headed to the grassy area behind the visitor's football bleachers. It didn't take long to figure out Mr Gravity and Mr Leverage will make your arm sore with the tubes extended all the way out. I shortened it by two holes and that was much easier. The first thing I found was a penny! Then I found a quarter, bunch of trash, another penny and another quarter. I used the crisscross method and that really zeroed in on the location, plus I found when I first pull the plug out of the ground, I'd lay it off to the side and scan the clump and the hole to see where the signal was coming from - works great. Every time I decided to dig, I found something.

Here's a picture of what I found in about 45 minutes, and there was a bunch pieces of pop cans that I threw in the trash barrel. To me, what I found isn't important but rather the fact the first time out I was able to detect, dig, and then find! We have several parks here in town that's probably just loaded with treasures out there waiting to be found. The bottom thing in the picture I found near the neighbor's driveway, I also found the city water shutoff valve that the Bounty Hunter I had home the other day couldn't.

that detector is doing good , and its good that you throw away the trash, I see some older tabs to you have a potential of making some good finds

Great successful first hunt with the Silver. Remember that when you get to a real trashy area you will here pops and clicks in the audio. This is nothing more than targets just below or at your disc setting being partially discriminated out. When you hear a lot of this you are in a trashy area. Slow your swing speed way down and listen for that nice clean audio of coin amongst the trash. The Silver really kicks butt in these trashy areas. My two best coins were found in areas like this. Also try detecting these areas from several different directions.

Keep us posted and let us know how you like the detector.

You're off to a good start

Great job. Just keep digging. If you are finding pull tabs, you will get nickles and gold rings. I will bet you a nickle that you will find a nice ring. You better post a picture when you do. Good luck... KEN

You did better than me yesterday. All I got were painful splinters in my fingers , but I almost found an 1800's coin .
