1993 penny-using smartfind.showed low ferrous and sort of low conductivity but it definitely said coin on the right side of the screen

Congrats on your first SE coin David.

Keep working with the SE and continue to learn the sounds and language...and hopefully you will start to pop some wheaties out....and silver might come next.

Congrats !

Pretty soon you will be able to tell the difference between the various pennies that are endlessly available for you to dig ..

here are a couple more with one I dug before.
this used to be a farm area 70 yrs ago and had county fairs.
the penny I found today and the bottle cap-almost fooled be but I I had to see what it was.
national distilleries was a brewery that started right at the end of prohibition and the round tag is a tent pole license for an amusement stand in 1936. this yard of mine has yielded tractor bolts and parts and whtever. the pole tag I dug last year I think.there are tons of targets here but they are so close together.

The pole tag and bottlecap are neat finds. If they had county fairs there, their has to be some old coins, I would suggest that you invest in a smaller coil. I own a 6" DD EXcelerator EQ 2 that I like to use in high trash areas, it has some pretty good depth. I found a silver quarter at 9 inches using that coil. Their are other smaller coils like 6X8 SEF butterfly, 4.5 x 7" DD EXcelerator and the Sunray 5 inch coils. If you look at the beggining of the Explorer forum you will find the Sticky of different FBS coils that Bryce has tested and all four of these coils are in it.
