My first detector. F2. Hard start.....

Went home for lunch today hoping to find my New F2 on the porch patiently waiting for my arrival. It wasn't there. Went ahead and at lunch and just as I was finishing heard the mail truck come to a stop out front. Woo Hoo! Met him half way up the walk, thanked him and headed inside. Opened the box like kid on Christmas morning and slapped her together with the sniper coil. Ran out back, hit the switch and away I went. Beep..Beep beep BEEP...beep. Then I notched out Iron, that quieted things down a bit. ...............Beep...........................Beep ...............Beep. Hit 81-82, thought cool. Need a shovel. Hit the garage, grabbed the shovel and came back. Pin pointed @ 4". Marked the spot visually, laid down the F2 and went for the first scoop of dirt......TINK!!. Oh yeah, it's 14 degrees out. The grounds a little hard. No way I'm getting down even an inch without something a little more stout than an old dirt shovel. Had to get back to work as my hour was about up. Will have to wait till it warms up a bit. I'll keep you posted.

You just have to get the chisel and big hammer out. Can't leave that first target freezing until spring. LOL Good luck and welcome to a great hobby. Although, addictive. HH jim tn

Hilti makes a small battery powered hammer drill you can set on just hammer:drinking:

I hear ya, was out a couple weeks ago and hit a good one in the yard. Its now marked with a stick until the thaw.

I seriously thought about laying down a sheet of plastic, putting an electric blanket down on top of that, then adding a couple sleeping bags on top to insulate it and letting it all sit for a day or two. Not sure the wife would go for that though. She's been using it quite a bit lately. Maybe she could just sleep out there, add to the insulation. Or at least keep it all from blowing away! Maybe we should just keep that last comment here...:punch:

Ouch! Is that the dog house I hear calling?

Went into the deep freeze here too. Saturday and Sunday could dig in the wood chips and some of the places that got good sun coverage or were well insulated with leaves, but not now.

Hope you enjoy that F2 when things thaw.

backhoe :bouncy:
you will love the f2 when it thaws a bit

I had the F2 as a backup to my Etrac for about 6 months. I then sold the F2 and got an AT Pro so I could water hunt. I love the sounds of the Fisher machines and I have used the F2 a few times in a few parks instead of my Etrac, just to change is up. The Fisher machines are always over clocked and very sensitive. I had a good time with the F2 and I would put it against the Coinmaster, Ace250, Tesoro matched, and even the Minelab 305....

The F2 is a wicked little machine!

Nothing a torch can't thaw. Might kill your grass, but....

How hard do you want to work for a quarter?
