My first day detecting

Bought a new MXT yesterday, ventured out today with no prior experience. This is cool! I've dug up lots of junk, a few coins, seem to find a lot of copper scrap. Just before calling it a day, I found a 'puddle' of some type of white metal. A wood-frame structure fire from several decades ago melted it, but I'm clueless as to what it is. Trying to figure this stuff out seems to add to the fun. I'm hoping it's silver, but I'm not holding my breath. It's non ferrous, but definitely not aluminum.

It may be some time before I can claim any type of proficiency, but the fun has already arrived.

This looks like a great forum with some really decent people! Can't wait until I learn enough to ask some intelligent questions. Can't wait for next weekend either!
